Sizwe Madlopha is an accomplished individual with a diverse range of interests and a passion for knowledge. Born with a curious mind and an insatiable thirst for learning, Sizwe’s journey as a BA Law and Political Science graduate has been nothing short of remarkable. Throughout their academic journey, Sizwe demonstrated exceptional dedication and enthusiasm for their studies.Their interest in both Law and Political Science sparked a desire to explore the intersections between these two disciplines, leading them to become an early-time academic researcher. Sizwe’s research endeavors have primarily focused on a wide array of topics, each representing their diverse interests. Their exploration into human rights issues within the realm of law showcased a strong commitment to advocating for justice and equality. They delved into the complexities of legal systems and the ways in which they impact society, with the ultimate goal of promoting human rights on a global scale. Simultaneously, Sizwe’s passion for International Relations allowed them to gain a deeper understanding of the intricate dynamics between nations. They analyzed diplomatic interactions, global conflicts, and the ever-changing landscape of international politics, all while seeking avenues for peaceful resolutions and cooperation.
Surprisingly, amidst their law and politics pursuits, Sizwe also found a fascination with historical art forms. They reveled in the beauty and storytelling of art from various periods, embracing the artistic expression that transcends time and culture. This interest became a refreshing outlet for creativity and inspiration in their academic journey. Outside of academia, Sizwe is known for their warm and approachable personality. Their communication skills, coupled with their intellectual prowess, have led to invitations for speaking engagements and panel discussions. Director
Nobuntu Mhlambi is a director at Afropolitan Explosiv. A recipient of the Goethe-Institut Artificial Intelligence in the Arts Fellowship for the 2023, Mhlambi is currently pursuing an Mphil degree in Digital Curation at the University of Cape Town. She is an experienced facilitator of community craft and arts project. In 2023, she curated Afropolitan Explosiv’s Craft Market Intervention, a project supported by the Business and Arts South Africa (BASA) and Newcastle Municipality. The Craft Market Intervention prioritised women and those living with disabilities of all ages in KwaZulu-Natal, by equipping them with skills in beadwork, leatherwork and digital sales. Participants were guided through 3 workshops of creative and business approaches based on historic research of traditional craft style origins; contemporary reinterpretations and trends awareness; presentation and selling strategies using innovative and free digital commerce platforms.
Mhlambi is an experienced creator and facililitator of handmade artisanal crafts, including garment-making, crochet, leatherwork, beadwork, to mention a few. In 2022, she presented as part of a visual arts exhibition curated by Kabelo Malatsie, which took place at the Kunsthalle Bern Switzerland.
